Hooks & Bails

Single piece forgings have no weak spot or weld undercut to flex at and cause fatigue cracks. Extra material can be left at contact points to anticipate wear. Grain flow will give maximum strength at critical points.

Anchor eye & mooring ring. 2" diameter material. 1" diameter hooks with multiple bends hot formed to close tolerances for a US Marine vehicle. 4140 Pulling Hooks: Lawndale Forge has produced tens of thousands of these hooks used to pull high tension electric cables. Material is 9/16" diameter 4140 that has been bent, flattened, and heat treated. Pelican Hooks: Links are 1 7/8" 8620. Welds are 100% radiographic inspected.    Gear Puller Arms: These are for our 5 ton and 25 ton gear puller sets. Material is 1045. Note the heavy cross section at the bends. Lifting Bail: shaped like an oversized pail handle this bail is forged from 1-1/4” square 1045. Center is hammered to a round cross section, the ends are flattened, drilled, and flame cut, and the center is bent on 18” radius. 1-5/8” diameter 4130 is hammer forged to taper both ends and then bent an a 1-5/8 inside radius.
